Sunrise on Hutchinson Island Florida
Folly Beach Sunrise Folly Beach South Carolina
My friend and I went to South Carolina on a birding trip for a long weekend. One evening I decided to see just how far we were from the nearest beach with thoughts of sunrise pictures dancing in my head. We were about 30 minutes away. Do-able for sure. We awoke and threw on some clothes and drove to the beach. Just as the sky was turning pumpkin orange, we hurried down to the water's edge and just had minutes to set up and find a spot. Having never been to Folly Beach before I wasn't sure where to go. So, I decided to set up on the south side of the Pier. The sun began to rise and I started taking photos and didn't really even notice the people on the pier or on the beach. We packed up and left about 30 minutes after sunrise. When I got home and viewed my photos, only then did I notice the people enjoying the sunrise. A happy accident to have had them in my shot. Sometimes the unplanned, spur of the moment shots have the most to offer. I few months later, this image won first place in a contest I entered.
